OUR CLINIC

CLADIBIOR  performs a large array of diagnostic laboratory analyses in molecular and cellular immunology,  congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies, immunology of infectious diseases and oncology. CLADIBIOR also carries out quality control activities of blood products for the Division of Immunohaematology and Blood Bank and the Division of Hematology at the University Hospital,  and operates as a reference laboratory for the diagnosis of congenital and acquired immunodeficiencies in southern Italy.

Specific assays include:

- Serologic and genomic HLA typing, to determine donor-recipient compatibility in bone marrow and solid organ transplantation, and for the study of the association between HLA antigens and autoimmune diseases (such as ankylosing spondylitis, Celiac disease, etc.).

- HLA-B*5701 genotype to identify individuals with an increased risk of hypersensitivity reactions to the antiretroviral agent Abacavir  in HIV-infected adults and adolescents.

- Detection of anti-HLA alloantibodies  for the follow-up of transplanted patients and the diagnosis of alloimmune abortion.

- KIR (inhibitory receptors of NK lymphocytes) phenotyping for the selection of haploidentical bone marrow donors.

- Functional study of the cytotoxic activity of NK cells against leukemic blasts, for the selection of haploidentical bone marrow donors.

- Flow Cytometry diagnosis of haematologic malignancies (acute and chronic leukemias, Hodgkin's  and non-Hodgkin's lymphomas, myelodysplastic syndrome, multiple myeloma, etc.), platelet disorders (Bernard Soulier Syndrome and Glanzman thrombasthenia) and paroxysmal nocturnal hemoglobinuria (PNH).

- Analysis of lymphocyte populations in patients with HIV/AIDS infection;

- Analysis of lymphocyte populations in patients with congenital immunodeficiencies, performed according to the IPIDNET guidelines.

- Functional study of granulocyte and lymphocyte populations in patients with immunodeficiencies.

- Functional assays of cytotoxic activity of NK and LAK cells (NK triggered by high doses of IL-2), and CD8 cytotoxic T lymphocytes.

- Functional assays of the phagocytic activity.

- Immunological diagnostics of tuberculosios infection and disease.

- Isolation and propagation of cancer stem cells from different types of solid tumors.

- Cancer Stem Cells Sensitivity Assay (STELLA).
